Questions & Answers
If you have water filtration, conditioning, or air quality questions, we have the answer.
Q: How long has Hudson Valley Environmental Solutions been in business?
A: Our company has been in business since 2017, though we are backed by the expertise of nearly 70 years of water treatment systems manufacturing and installation.
Q: Isn’t city and most well water good enough without a water conditioning system?
A: That depends on your standards of “good enough.” Most communities meet Primary Drinking Water Standards as established by the EPA. But your water can still contain impurities you can’t taste or smell – impurities that can be potentially harmful. Our water treatment products can take good water and turn it into great tasting healthy water that meets much stricter standards.
Q: My city water system tests fine at the source. Why should I worry?
A: In the time that water leaves the plant and arrives at your home, it can pick up substances that become a part of the water you receive. Sediment and odors can also join the mixture. A home water filtration system provides a highly effective barrier against these pollutants.
Q: How does a water softening system remove hardness?
A: Hardness is removed by a process called “ion exchange.” Hardness-causing particles and debris are positively charged. The water runs through a resin system, which has millions of negatively charged sites. As the water flows past these sites, calcium, iron and magnesium attach to the sites and are “bumped off.”
Q: How much sodium will be in my conditioned water?
A: Very little. In most cases, you’ll find less sodium in a glass of conditioned water than in a slice of white bread. If your doctor recommends a sodium-free diet, one our reverse osmosis water system can reduce the total sodium content to near zero.
Q: Is activated carbon a safe method of filtration for drinking water?
A: Yes. Activated carbon filtration is recommended by the EPA for use in municipal water treatment plants.
Q: Will my water conditioning/filtration system alter the pH of my water?
A: No. However, if your pH needs adjustment, we can recommend a suitable solution.
Q: What if I move?
A: You can exclude your water softening system from your real estate contract and take them with you. We offer a limited warranty, which is good all over the world. If you’re moving outside of our service area, one of our affiliates can help you reinstall your unit and provide you with service.
Q: How can I calculate the return on my investment?
A: Calculate this. With a home water treatment system you won’t have to buy or lug expensive bottled water. You’ll use less soaps, shampoos, detergents and household cleaners. Clothes will look brighter, whiter and wear better. And because most mineral deposits are filtered out, your expensive appliances will last longer. Best of all, your family’s overall quality of life will be improved – something you can’t really put a price on.
